- Georgia with it's capital in Tbilisi situated in the South Caucasus - on the oldest Silk Road connecting Europe and Asia, between the Black and Caspian Seas. Russian Federation is in the north border of Georgia, Azerbaijan in the southeast, Armenia and Turkey in the south and the Black Sea in the west.
- There are 26000 rivers in Georgia. The longest rivers are Mtkvari, Alazani, Tergi and Rioni. There are also 756 lakes around Georgia.
- Georgia is known for the variety of mineral waters. There are more than 2000 popular mineral waters such as Borjomi, Sairme, Nabeglavi, Java, etc. The country is rich in fresh and thermal waters (its temperature reaches 110°C at some places, which is the highest in the world).
- Ushguli (2200m above sea level) located in Svaneti is the highest populated village in Europe.
- There are over 12000 historical and architectural monuments in Georgia. Four of them Bagrati cathedral, Gelati monastery, Mtskheta monuments and Upper Svaneti province are included in UNESCO world heritages list.
- An unusual event for foreign visitors is the Georgian table or Supra (dinner party - word literally means tablecloth). Georgian spirit is nowhere better displayed than at the table: It’s a common, but significant phenomenon in Georgians life and a guest is considered as a gift received from god. Supra must be full of Georgian delicious dishes.
- Georgian people respect their traditions and will estimate your attentive attitude to their customs. Some of important sights are functioning as monasteries and entering a church please don’t wear a low-necked dress, mini skirt and shorts.
- Georgians eat at any time of the day and often served breakfast can be similar to dinner, including the wine if you are the guest at Georgian family. Ingredients are usually fresh and ecological products, Georgians generally like salty food and with lot of chili. Many dishes include walnuts, garlic and spice. The favorite Georgian dishes are Khachapuri or cheese pie, Khinkali (meat in boiled paste), Mtsvadi (grilledmeat), Satsivi - a walnut sauce with turkey or chicken, Elarji (maize porridge with Georgian cheese Sulguni). Other tasty sauces include the wild plum Tkemali and the hot chili Ajika. For a “breakfast” with a difference try the “khashi”, a soup of tripe, cow hoof and lots of garlic. There are a lot of variations of these dishes and each region in Georgia has its own recipe. Georgians, also prepare delicious sweets like Churchkela (nuts in boiled grape juice), Pelamushi (boiled grape juice) and Gozinaki (walnuts in honey) which tastes are unique.
- Georgia being mentioned as a cradle of wine with its eight centuries of vine-growing and wine-making history. Kakheti province is the biggest producer of wine but it’s could be found in every region of the country. Huge ceramic wine vessels “Kvevri” may be seen near many ancient monuments and the vine often figures as a relief on church facades. It is the highest disrespect for Georgian to reject the proposed wine or to criticize it because there is no bad wine in Georgia; you’ll find only a good and the best wines here. It's especially interesting tasting wine made by "Glekhuri" (peasant) way.
