The building housing Grand Hotel Ushba was raised in 1975, but rebuilt as a hotel in 2009/2010. The building has always belonged to the Svan Argvliani family. One of the family members has led the renovation work and made furniture for the hotel himself. Another family member is a well-known Svan mountain guide and takes hotel guests on mountain walks in the beautiful surroundings around the hotel. The mother of the family is an expert on Svan food. Grand Hotel Ushba has a total of 7 guest rooms, all designed in a simple and tasteful way. All rooms have two beds and are smoke-free. Smoking is allowed outside the hotel. All the guest rooms have a mountain view. The Ushba Suite has an overwhelming view towards the Ushba summit (4710 m) in the northeastern direction. The Ushba Suite as well as 4 other guest rooms also have views southwards towards the Dolra valley and Mount Laila (Lahili) (4008 m). Two guest rooms have views westwards towards Mount Bakhi (3137 m) and the Bakhi Pass (2416 m) in the direction of Etseri. There are toilets, a shower and a sauna separately on the ground floor. One guest room with a view southwards towards the Dolra valley and Mount Laila is located on the ground floor, while the remaining six guest rooms are located on the first floor with entrances from the beautiful viewing balcony. The reception and the restaurant / bar are on the ground floor. A staircase unites the ground floor with the first floor. The restaurant on the ground floor offers very good Svan food, delicious local mineral water and excellent Georgian wines. The restaurant is designed in a Svan style inspired by Svaneti’s unique tower houses. The restaurant can be used as a meeting room for up to 25 people. In good weather, the viewing balcony on the first floor may also be used as a meeting venue. The hotel can also arrange picnic meetings, mountain meetings and other meetings in the countryside.
